The Allure of the Seas, a ship that eclipses the U.S. Navy's Nimitz-class supercarriers, is the world's largest cruise liner. With its tropical park, boardwalk, merry-go-round, ice rink, zipline, and outdoor amphitheater, all onboard, this ship is amazing in many ways. Royal Caribbean has created a resort destination that floats.

Want to see a show? Head to deck 4. Ready for a dip in the pool or a round of miniature golf, or a surfing lesson? Deck 15 is the designated sports zone. Hungry? Most restaurants --there are 24! -- are on decks 5, 6, and 8.

Though this ship can accommodate more than 6,000 guests, there are plenty of private, cozy spaces on board. The Allure’s Central Park, filled with more than 12,000 trees and plants and longer than a football field, is completely open to the sky. It's a wonderful, serene space, with winding paths and benches and a half-dozen restaurants for outdoor dining.

The Boardwalk is reminiscent of old time Coney Island, with its merry-go-round, ice-cream parlor, and hot dogs. It is home to Allure’s Aqua Theater, a 700-seat amphitheater, overlooking an 18-foot-deep swimming pool, which hosts Olympic caliber diving shows. Nine stories above the boardwalk stretches an 82-foot long zipline for adventurous passengers to enjoy. Other onboard activities include surfing on two Flowrider machines, rock climbing, miniature golf, ice skating, dancing, basketball, and yes, of course, ping pong and shuffle board!

The Solarium, located forward on the 16th deck, is a gorgeous, adult only haven of relaxation! They have a freshwater pool and two tranquil whirlpools, palm trees, a cocktail lounge, and the Spa Café.

The entertainment options, on board, are vast. The Allure offers a 90-minute version of the Broadway musical "Chicago" in its main theater and an Ice Capades
style show in the ice rink, along with nightclub acts and traditional cruise entertainment you are sure to enjoy. Plan to visit the Comedy club and music venues galore. The Casino and lounges remain open to the wee hours of the morning.

The food is great, diverse, and plentiful. Restaurants range from New York Elegant to Johnny Rockets for burgers, French fries, and milk shakes. Perhaps you might prefer the Italian bistro or sushi bar? The options seem endless. The gym is state-of-the-art and the spa is luxurious.

Please join us for this wonderful adventure. A great time is assured. The money raised for the Brandel-Murphy Youth Fund will make a world of difference for children in need.

11-YEAR-OLD BOY FROM INDIA TO BE AWARDED LIONS INTERNATIONAL
PEACE POSTER CONTEST GRAND PRIZE AT THE UNITED NATIONS

Peace Poster Grand Prize WinnerOAK BROOK, IL USA, March 14, 2011 – Raj Phairembam, an 11-year-old boy from Manipur, India, was recognized at Lions Day with the United Nations in New York City for winning this year’s grand prize in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. At the event on Friday, March 18, 2011, Phairembam received an award and US$5,000. His parents and the president of the Moirang Lions Club, which sponsored the contest at his school, accompanied him to the award ceremony.

Phairembam said when he found out he won, he was overwhelmed with disbelief and excitement.

“We live in different continents but our feelings are the same. We want to be where there is peace. We don’t want to be where there is violence and war,” said Phairembam. “We want a kingdom of peace where love prevails and where we can enjoy the freedom to play fearlessly with our friends – be it an American, an African, a European, an Australian or an Asian.”

An estimated 350,000 children, ages 11, 12 and 13 in 70 countries around the world, participated in this year’s contest. His poster was chosen for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of this year’s contest theme, "Vision of Peace."

Lions Clubs International President Sid L. Scruggs III said, “I commend Raj and all these young people for sharing their personal visions of peace with the world around them. They are truly beacons of hope for us all.”

Lions created the Peace Poster Contest to foster a spirit of peace and international understanding in young people worldwide.

“It is a proud moment for us and our young boy Raj, who has become grand prize winner of the Peace Poster Contest,” said Animesh Baruah, the Lions district governor who oversees Lions clubs in northeastern India, including the sponsoring club of Moirang.”

In addition to the grand prize winner, 23 merit award winners have been announced. This year’s merit winners are from Argentina, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Malta, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, New Zealand, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, the United States (California, Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts and Virginia) and Uruguay. The merit winners will each receive US$500 and a certificate of achievement.

After being exhibited at the 94th annual Lions Clubs International Convention in Seattle, Washington, USA, this July, the 24 winning Peace Posters will be shown throughout the year at children’s museums and various locations throughout the United States. The posters will also be featured on the Lions Clubs International Web site, www.lionsclubs.org, where visitors can learn more about the contest and send Peace Poster e-cards.
